Lyngblomsten employee tests positive for COVID-19
April 26, 2020
On Saturday, April 25, 2020, Lyngblomsten learned that one of its employees in the care center tested positive for COVID-19. This is the first confirmed case of COVID-19 for Lyngblomsten. We have shared this news with residents, tenants, their family members, and employees per Lyngblomsten’s communications protocols.
Fortunately, the employee did NOT have direct contact with residents during the most contagious time period, which is the 48 hours prior to experiencing symptoms. After noting symptoms, this individual correctly sought medical attention and has not been to campus since.
Lyngblomsten’s Nursing Administration has been assessing the exposure risk and communicating with those who had contact with this individual (a process known as contact tracing). These actions are taken based directly on guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). All interactions that this employee had are considered low risk per the MDH guidelines. We have followed, and will continue to follow, any further guidance from the MDH when it is provided. We are seeking guidance from MDH to determine whether testing of asymptomatic staff and residents is advised. We will continue safety protocols such as assessing staff and resident symptoms, wearing masks and goggles, frequent sanitizing of surfaces, etc.
At this time, the employee with a confirmed case of COVID-19 is at home and doing well. We ask for prayers that this individual has a speedy recovery and that no further cases develop.
As you can imagine, this is difficult news for our employees, residents and tenants, and their loved ones. We will update this website as pertinent information becomes available. Please note, out of respect for the sensitive nature of COVID-19 cases and the potential for emotional reactions, it is our practice to notify staff, residents and tenants, and their designated family or other representative of the situation first before posting an update on this website.
