5/22/20 Update: House-wide testing continues
May 22, 2020
Last week on May 14 and again this week on May 20, we tested all care center residents who had not previously been confirmed positive for COVID-19. As of today, May 22, there have been 66 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 for care center residents since our first case on April 28, with 57 cases currently active (includes both symptomatic and asymptomatic). At this time, there are no confirmed cases for tenants in either of our two apartment buildings on campus. This week we began testing care center employees (it was not until now that we could get the required number of testing kits). The results show that 10% of those staff have COVID-19.
This rise is case numbers was expected because of expanded testing. The more tests that are performed, the more we’re able to identify who has the virus. We are hopeful that we are nearing the summit with the number of cases and can soon begin the journey back to normal, or slightly different normal. Also, we are eagerly awaiting the “graduation” (full recovery) of several residents and employees in the coming days—a ray of hope for sure!
We truly have the best residents, families, and staff! During these very challenging days, everyone is pulling together, doing their very best, and navigating the hardships with grace. Thank you for your abundant and fervent prayers. We feel them and know they are helping carry us through.
