5/2/20 Update: Communications about COVID-19
May 2, 2020
We are revisiting our COVID-19 Communications Policy due to how quickly information changes. Individual test results come back at multiple times throughout any given day, making it impractical to update the website each time there is news.
Our first duty is to those who are living and working on our campus, and we provide updates to these folks as they become available. We also have been communicating with residents’ and tenants’ designated representative (typically a family member) each time there is testing and results. Communication with these groups occurs through a variety of ways, including phone calls, emails, letters, and conference calls. For residents and tenants, staff also make individual in-person visits to communicate new information.
We know how deeply caring Lyngblomsten’s extended family of supporters are, and we want to do our best to keep constituents updated as well. However, information changes so rapidly that our original communications plan for the website is not sustainable.
While we work on revising our communications strategy, we want you to know these things:
- We are caring for residents who are positive for COVID-19 in our designated unit at the Lyngblomsten Care Center. We have communicated this to our residents, tenants, their designated family representatives, and our employees, as well as to our outside healthcare providers and vendors, along with the MDH and CDC. In addition, our admissions team has been communicating this to those considering moving to our care center. We are working closely with the Minnesota Department of Health to ensure we are doing everything possible to provide the best care for our residents and to prevent the spread of the virus within our facility.
- If you can sew or know someone who can, please make surgical caps for our staff. You can get the instructions and pattern here.
- We miss having our volunteers and resident/tenant family members and 2nd Half with Lyngblomsten participants and program partners on campus. You are in our thoughts, and we hope that you are safe and well.
- We feel your prayers—we know they are helping. Please continue to pray for our residents, tenants, and staff.
May you be well,
The Lyngblomsten Communications Team
