Strengthening Ministry to Seniors

Lyngblomsten believes that providing for the needs of older adults is a task inherent in the mission of the Church and clearly expressed in our own mission: Influenced by Christ, Lyngblomsten provides a ministry of compassionate care and innovative services to older adults in order to preserve and enhance their quality of life.

More than just providing for the needs of older congregants, we encourage conversations about how to actively engage seniors in the life of the church. With an emphasis on providing resources and tools, Lyngblomsten works to expand and enrich the older adult ministry in these churches. Together we strengthen each other's ministry to seniors.

Corporate Congregations

Lyngblomsten is formally partnered with two dozen Christian congregations across the Twin Cities. Each church signs a covenant with Lyngblomsten affirming the mutual understanding and commitment.

Corporate congregations:

• appoint delegates to serve as liaisons between their church and Lyngblomsten. The duties of these liaisons are described in the: Delegate job description.
• participate in the governance of Lyngblomsten . As specified in our bylaws, the majority of the Lyngblomsten Board of Directors comes from our corporate churches.
• are involved in the well-being of older adults through discussions about the development of ministry programs, services, and policies.
• are integrally involved in fulfilling Lyngblomsten's goal of serving the elderly where they are most comfortable—in their homes, their churches, and their communities. This is achieved through our community services in partnership with churches.

Other Congregations

In addition to the corporate churches, Lyngblomsten partners with other congregations to serve older adults through Lyngblomsten Community Services.  The commitment is to caring for the “whole person”—body, mind, and spirit.
